We organise monthly community litter picks at different locations around Tower Hamlets. We also operate two hubs for CleanUp UK which facilitates the lending of litter picking equipment. Through the year we have held monthly litter picks at: Wapping, Shadwell, Stepney, Mile End In March 2025 we launched two additional locations: Limehouse and Poplar. We have additionally hosted events for corporate groups and in collaboration with other groups such as Wapping Running Club. Our impact is that we have run over 50 litter picking events and collected in excess of 1,000 bags of rubbish from the streets, parks and green spaces of Tower Hamlets. We estimate that we have collected in excess of 2,000kg of rubbish this year. We are particularly proud of our work with JRS in bringing refugees and asylum seekers together with members of the settled community to spend time in each others’ company and taking opportunity to learn from one another’s lived experience.
Our stakeholders are the residents, workers, businesses and visitors to Tower Hamlets. We have not held any formal consultations with our stakeholders. As part of our community outreach we have attended a range of community events, most notably the Wapping Shindig, organised by the Turks Head Charity, events at Stepney City Farm and meetings Wapping Connects, a network of local community groups. As defining feature of our events is being open and accessible to our community and we encourage conversation with local residents and visitors passing our events. We use this interaction to target our volunteers to places where they will have the greatest impact. We have regular contact with the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and support their events. We operate a website and social media channels including a Whatsapp community which allows the organisation to communicate with our volunteers.
