The company produces plays and runs workshops with an emphasis of encouraging the local community of all ages to get involved with performing arts. The company started trading in April 2019 and in its sixth year of trading continued with the format of two main performances a year with workshops and events between. Audiences returned to expected levels, and with popular plays chosen the company performed well. Popular plays selected with member input increased audiences and the business is expected to return to growth, the additional revenues allowed us to fund workshops such as vocal training for the benefits of our members at no additional cost. Highlights for the financial year include; In July 2024 the company performed the play, “Girl on a Train”, with an inexperienced team directing a play and a cast of mixed abilities which created an environment to showcase the skills our members have gained. The play, a crowd pleasing title, was a financial success and was nominated for Noda District 8 awards and had a great review from the Noda representative and brought a different type of play to our community. Our production of “Vicar of Dibley” in December 2024 was a truly family event both on and off stage. With new members, many families, taking to the stage the production showed the company values of inclusivity with a number of the cast with neuro diverse needs. Like the popular TV programme it was a roaring success with the cast members performing to a near full house each performance, and the play has been the companies most financially successful play to date. Membership has remained stable across a core group with new members joining when they want to be involved in an upcoming production, therefore a small increase in membership revenues has been seen throughout the year.
Our AGM was held in line with our membership year and was attended by many members in January 2024, this gave an overview of the financial performance as well as our proposals for the calendar year. We have run surveys after events asking for feedback to ensure our members and none members are given a voice and help shape the events we run. The vocal projection workshop was an example of feedback taken and being actioned.
