Principal activities of the company

The principal activities of the company during the year were to promote local heritage and develop plans for a heritage garden adjacent to the Egbert Stones, in memory of Chris Ralph. Activities included community engagement, stakeholder discussions, and early-stage exploration of funding and support to progress the project for public benefit.

Company activities and impact

During the financial year, Egbert Stone Project CIC has benefited the community in the following ways: - approximately 40 visitors have been welcomed to the site to view and discuss the Egbert Stones, supporting community connection to local heritage and increasing awareness of the site’s significance - the CIC has held around 20 informal conversations with local people about the aims of the project and the development of a heritage garden, helping to build local interest and community involvement - the CIC has engaged a range of people and organisations through visits and discussions, including heritage groups, local councils, schools, families, and community members, encouraging shared learning, remembrance, and participation - the CIC has supported community wellbeing and identity by sharing the legacy and hopes of Chris Ralph, and promoting the vision of a heritage garden as a space for reflection, belonging, and connection to heritage - early-stage planning activity has taken place through discussions about how the land could be cleared, the site improved, and funding raised to progress the project and deliver long-term community benefit The CIC’s activity during this period has focused on community engagement and early development work, with plans to progress fundraising and practical site improvements as resources allow.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s stakeholders include local residents, families, schools, heritage groups, local councils, and visitors to the Egbert Stones site, as well as the wider community who may benefit from the future heritage garden. Consultation during the financial year has taken place in the following ways: - the CIC has spoken with approximately 40 visitors to the site, using these visits as an opportunity to discuss the history and significance of the Egbert Stones and to share the aims of the heritage garden project - the CIC has held around 20 informal conversations with local people to gather views on the future development of the project, including how the site could be improved and how local people might wish to be involved - the CIC has received interest and feedback through visits and discussions with heritage groups, local councils, schools and families, helping the CIC to shape early ideas about accessibility, engagement and future educational use - consultation has mainly been informal and discussion-led due to the project being at an early stage, but the CIC intends to carry out more structured consultation as the project progresses (for example, through community meetings, surveys or partnership discussions) Feedback gained through stakeholder engagement has helped confirm local support for developing the site in a respectful way, with the heritage garden intended to improve access, encourage learning, and strengthen community connection to heritage.
