knus Mental Health C.I.C. is a volunteer-led, not-for-profit organisation providing free, confidential mental health peer support to adults (18+) across the United Kingdom. Founded in January 2021, knus exists to make emotional support more accessible through trained peer support volunteers with lived experience. The organisation now supports a growing national community and operates across digital and conversational channels. During 2025, knus has continued to strengthen its infrastructure and reach. The organisation is in the final stages of beta testing its first mobile application for Apple and Android, bringing together chat, telephone and video support in one platform, with integrated booking for service users and scheduling for volunteers. A full public launch is planned for early 2026 following successful testing. knus has successfully completed both the Hatch Enterprise Accelerator and the School of Social Entrepreneurs Accelerator and will commence the Hatch Enterprise “Sales to Scale” UBS Deep Dive Programme in January 2026, supported by UBS Bank. These programmes are supporting the organisation’s sustainability, governance and growth strategy. The volunteer community has expanded significantly, with over 800 new volunteers onboarded across peer support, administration and ambassador roles in the past year alone. Training, safeguarding, and digital platforms have been further developed and brought increasingly in-house through grant funding and regulated fundraising. knus operates as a fully bootstrapped Community Interest Company. No salaries are paid and all roles are undertaken by volunteers. The organisation continues to work in collaboration with statutory services, local authorities, health partners and community organisations to improve access to peer support and to widen pathways into early, preventative mental health support. Fundraising and grant activity is conducted in line with the Fundraising Regulator and all applicable governance and compliance requirements.
