Company activities and impact

Youth Powers support 100 disadvantaged youth aged 16-18 who are NEET (Not in Employment; Education; or Training) in Peckham by equipping them with essential employability skills to secure jobs in the hospitality industry. The project runs for 12 months and will significantly enhance the participants' future career prospects. This initiative is designed to provide targeted training and hands-on experience in hospitality; a sector with a high number of entry-level opportunities. Our comprehensive program will include workshops on customer service; food safety; kitchen skills; and professional conduct. We will also offer mentorship; CV writing assistance; and interview preparation to ensure participants are job-ready. Peckham has high youth unemployment rates and a vibrant hospitality sector; which offers numerous opportunities for entry-level employment. Specifically targeting those facing significant barriers to employment; education; training such as previously poor educational outcomes and negative attractions to criminal behaviour. A new project initiative inspired by opportunities that exist in hospitality we aim to deliver a well planned programme that is flexible enough to respond to the needs of the young people throughout. Running weekly 2 hour sessions in 4 groups of 25 young people every 12 weeks; participants will develop a range of skills including customer service; teamwork; time management; and basic culinary skills. These skills are the most popular in the industry for securing and maintaining employment for the short to medium term. We anticipate that at least 40% of participants will secure employment and 60% further training within six months of program completion. Recruitment and marketing efforts will include social media campaigns; flyers; and warm up community events to raise awareness and attract participants. We will conduct regular assessments to monitor progress and gather feedback. This data will help refine the program; ensuring effectiveness. No barriers or stringent qualifying criteria for participation.
