Knowledge Empower C.I.C Activities and Impact Knowledge Empower C.I.C is newly registered which was started to: -provide support, guidance, civic education, and exposure to positive role models within the community to at-risk youths from ethnic minority and disadvantaged backgrounds. -raise awareness of the risks and consequences of gang affiliation, drug abuse, prostitution and other criminal activities. -promote awareness and counsel on mental and physical well-being issues, provide at-risk youths with tools and resources to manage stress, maintain healthy relationships, and a safe place where such issues can be privately discussed and dealt with in a non-threatening or intrusive manner. -Provide exposure and access to self-development and advancement opportunities by working with organisations both in the public and private sectors to provide internships, voluntary work programs, and mentorship opportunities to help build valuable skills and experience, boost self-esteem and self-worth and give them the opportunity to aspire beyond what they thought was possible. -To instil responsible use of social media and ethical online behaviour. A comprehensive training program will be implemented; the training will focus on teaching ethnic minority and disadvantaged youths how to access resources and networks online safely and effectively and will cover topics such as digital privacy, cyberbullying prevention, online identity protection, and appropriate online communication. In its first year ending 30th April 2025, the company organised a Data Analytics Workshop which took place from 29th October to 31st October 2024 during school half term. The workshop was for students in year 11, 12 and 13 studying IT, Maths or Computer Science. The workshop was facilitated by one of the leading data analytics companies called SAS Data Analytics. The attendees were taught different types of data, ways data is collected, data analysis methods, use of Artificial Intelligence data collection and comparative analysis. They were grouped into teams of individuals who did not know each other, and they were given different tasks to complete. At the beginning they were very shy because they didn’t know each other but this changed by the last day. Some of the skills they learnt include team working, confidence building, and analysing skills among others. The facilitators advised the different careers they can go into and the courses they could take if interested. They showed them how to make online applications for apprentice programmes and showed them the companies which had live applications open. SAS Analytics is one of the companies with the largest database and they were given free lifetime access. Also, the attendees made new friends at the end the workshop. Organizing this event enabled some of the most marginalised young people in the community to have access to data they could use for their schoolwork. The were informed of careers they could go into which they were not aware about.
