Portishead Carnival Committee – Posset Events CIC is a non-trading company. Its funding is obtained through a variety of community led grants, activities and donations. Portishead Carnival is the largest community event in the town and has been running since 1902. Having previously only being suspended for the two great wars, due to Covid and changes in legislation the old committee stood down in 2017. Portishead Carnival Committee – Posset Events CIC was formed in 2024 to bring the event back to the town in 2025. The structuring of the CIC is designed to ensure the future of the Carnival in maintained. The CIC undertakes all the organisation, administration and delivery of the carnival. All directors and committee members are volunteers who work on the carnival in their free time throughout the year. Carnival25 brought 10,000+ residents, of all ages and abilities, onto the streets to enjoy and engage with the event.
The company stakeholders are our volunteers, residents, local businesses and the town council. Individuals have free access to our website and Facebook where they are encouraged to leave any ideas for consideration, feedback (positive & negative) and an email address they can discuss their subject in more detail. Committee members meet very month throughout the year to plan and discuss any feedback / suggestions from stakeholders.
