Company activities and impact

During the financial year, Abia Community Manchester CIC carried out activities focused on promoting cultural heritage, strengthening community cohesion and improving the wellbeing of individuals and families within Greater Manchester. The company delivered regular community gatherings, cultural workshops and youth engagement sessions designed to reduce social isolation and create a strong sense of belonging among members of the Igbo and wider African community. Activities included traditional dance sessions, intergenerational storytelling, cultural celebrations and structured youth participation initiatives. Particular emphasis was placed on supporting young people by building confidence, leader-ship skills and positive identity through culturally enriching activities. The company also ensured inclusive participation, welcoming families and children with additional needs by adapting sessions to create a safe and supportive environment. In addition to structured programming, the company provided informal welfare support to members experiencing challenges, helping to strengthen social networks and mutual assistance within the community. These activities have benefited the community by reducing isolation, encouraging positive engagement, fostering intergenerational relationships and promoting cultural pride. The company has contributed to improved wellbeing, stronger social connections and enhanced community resilience. All income generated during the year was reinvested into activities that further the company’s community interest objectives.

These stakeholders benefit directly or indirectly from the company’s activities.
