The company’s activities and impact During the financial year, The People’s Soup Kitchen & Pantry has delivered a range of community-led initiatives aimed at tackling food insecurity, unemployment, and social exclusion, while promoting wellbeing, skills development, and long-term independence. Our core activity has been the provision of hot meals and low-cost pantry support to individuals and families experiencing hardship. Through our soup kitchen services, we have created a safe, welcoming environment where members of the community can access nutritious food, social interaction, and emotional support. Soup kitchens are widely recognised as a vital lifeline, helping people facing poverty, homelessness, or financial difficulty while also promoting dignity and social connection . Alongside immediate food relief, our pantry model has enabled individuals to access essential food and household items at an affordable price point. This approach supports not only those in crisis but also working families affected by the rising cost of living, helping to reduce financial pressure and prevent deeper hardship. Beyond food provision, we have actively worked to empower individuals through our Back to Work Project. This initiative focuses on supporting unemployed and economically inactive individuals by providing guidance, mentoring, and pathways into employment or self-employment. Participants have been supported with CV development, job search skills, confidence building, and access to opportunities within our network. This project aims to break cycles of dependency by equipping individuals with the tools needed for sustainable income and personal growth. In addition, our Creative Lab Workshops have provided a platform for young people and adults to develop creative and practical skills. These workshops focus on areas such as music, media, design, and entrepreneurship, offering a constructive outlet that encourages self-expression, builds confidence, and nurtures talent. Community-based programmes like these are known to improve social skills, reduce isolation, and increase self-esteem while encouraging participation in wider community activities . Collectively, our activities have contributed to: * Reducing food insecurity within the local community * Supporting mental wellbeing through social interaction and safe spaces * Increasing employability and skills development * Providing positive engagement opportunities for young people * Strengthening community cohesion and volunteer involvement Through a combination of direct support services and long-term empowerment initiatives, the organisation continues to make a meaningful and measurable impact on individuals, families, and the wider community.
