2024-25 Achievements and Impact Our greatest and proudest achievement during the 2024-25 financial period was being awarded a three-year grant from Children in Need. Their support has given us the stability and consistency needed to grow the girls' workshops, while also allowing us to develop the programme even further. Just like our women's workshops, getting things off the ground was testing at times - but through networking, perseverance, and patience, we've gained recognition, support and wonderful recommendations. A key aim this year has been to involve female guardians in our post-workshop activities. This has proven incredibly popular and has created a safe, welcoming space for women - including mums and daughters - to enjoy meaningful activities together. Evolving the Speak Out Event We also made the decision to refresh the concept of our annual Speak Out event for women and girls. Scheduled for September 2025, the event received its first sponsorship from a local business, along with additional funding from Foundation Derbyshire. The vision was to host an evening of speakers while also showcasing the talents of Compassionate Voices members. Around 15 members - known as the Compassionate Voices Collaborative - rehearsed regularly throughout the first half of the year, preparing pieces using verse, song, and spoken word. Our Crafting with Purpose sessions played a huge role in bringing the event to life. Members created beautiful table centrepieces, including kintsugi-inspired vases and colourful cupcake-holder flowers. The girls also produced vibrant posters at the end of their workshops, expressing their passions for a better world, which were proudly displayed on the night. Thanks to sponsorship and funding, we wee able to book a sound engineer, order ethical t-shirts for volunteers and the Collaborative and secure a fantastic venue. Crafting with Purpose has now become an integral part of our services, bringing members together not only for events but also for decorating our annual Christmas Tree at Chesterfield Parish Church. Strengthening Partnerships Through Funding We also received funding from the Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner through the Safer and Stronger Together Project. The first half of the award arrived in early 2025, with the second instalment due later in the year. This funding enabled us to partner with a range of third-sector and local organisations, including: - Elm Foundation - Domestic Abuse - Crossroads - Stalking - Derbyshire Cyber Police Department - Online Safety - DAAS - Addiction - Live Life Better Derbyshire These partnerships have strengthened our offer and expanded the support available to the woman and girls we work with. Fundraising and Community Support Our fundraising and donations increased during 2024-25, helped by the success of events such as Batty Bingo, which brought both joy and essential income to support our work.
Our stakeholders are, first and foremost, our members. They sit at the heart of every decision we make and every action we take. To ensure their voices continue to guide our direction, we hold quarterly members' meetings, alongside regular gatherings for our volunteers. It was our members who voted to introduce the annual subscription, which we continue to offer to new workshop attendees. We're grateful for the steady stream of resubscriptions, each one helping to strengthen our financial reserves and support our long-term sustainability. Members also play a key role in shaping the post-workshop activities they'd like to see - and, in many cases, they even step forward to facilitate sessions themselves. Their involvement, insight, and generosity help Compassionate Voices CIC thrive.
The total amount paid to directors in respect of qualifying services was £17,282. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director's loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
