Little Green Pigeon provides both local and national support for bird rehabilitation, with a special focus on pigeons. We do this in several ways: - Education: We offer training and education for anyone interested in bird - particularly pigeon - rehabilitation and care. Each autumn, we host a conference to share knowledge, highlight best practices, and encourage networking within the pigeon care community. - Public Assistance: When members of the public find pigeons in need, we connect them with local, qualified rehabilitators who can provide appropriate care. - Community Growth: We collaborate internationally to build and strengthen the global pigeon rehabilitation community. - Hands-on Support: We work with people both over Zoom and in person to address local issues such as rescuing pigeons trapped in netting or abandoned by the pigeon racing and show communities. - Adoption Program: We run an adoption system to help place rescued pigeons into safe and loving homes
Our stakeholders regularly communicate with us via social media and in person at events. We actively listen to their feedback and respond where we can. Recent feedback highlighted a desire for greater clarity around how we raise and use our funds. In response, we have introduced a daily blog across our social media channels that shows the work being carried out and provides a breakdown of how much each item we sell contributes to supporting our work. We received some negative feedback last year from a group who opposed our work rescuing pigeons used in racing. Unfortunately, we were unable to engage with them in consultation because the situation escalated to threats against our organisation and individuals within it, which resulted in police involvement. Due to these threats, including threats of serious criminal damage and harm to our director and premises, we no longer consider these individuals to be appropriate stakeholders to consult with. They have since attempted to raise complaints about our C.I.C., but given the nature of the threats made, we have declined further engagement or consultation with them.
