This report outlines the ways in which our Taekwondo club has contributed positively to the local community. Beyond teaching martial arts, the club has played an important social role by supporting individuals facing financial hardship, assisting those dealing with serious illness, and creating inclusive opportunities for young people through local competitions. Support for Individuals with Financial Difficulties The club has made a conscious effort to ensure that financial barriers do not prevent participation. This has included offering reduced membership fees, flexible payment options, and in some cases free access to training sessions. By doing so, the club has enabled individuals and families experiencing financial hardship to benefit from physical activity, structured routines, and a supportive social environment. This approach promotes equality and ensures that opportunities are accessible to all members of the community, regardless of income. Support for People with Terminal Illnesses The club has also extended its support to individuals facing terminal illnesses. This support has taken both practical and emotional forms, including fundraising efforts, community awareness initiatives, and creating a sense of belonging for affected individuals and their families. The club environment has provided encouragement, compassion, and solidarity, helping to strengthen community bonds during difficult times. Development of Local Competitions for Children Recognising the importance of youth development, the club has organised smaller, local competitions specifically designed for children. These events provide a safe and encouraging environment for young participants to build confidence, develop discipline, and experience healthy competition. By hosting these competitions locally, the club reduces barriers such as travel costs and accessibility, allowing more children to take part. These events also foster community engagement, bringing together families and promoting positive social interaction. Conclusion Overall, the Taekwondo club has demonstrated a strong commitment to community development. Through financial support initiatives, compassionate outreach to those facing serious illness, and the organisation of inclusive local competitions, the club has become more than just a place to train, it is a valuable community asset. Its efforts have contributed to improved wellbeing, stronger social connections, and increased opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds.
We have worked and spoken with all individuals that have been supported by the CIC, this has enabled us to adjust our training and offerings to make them more suitable for the stakeholders. We have also had questionnaires filled out for our benefit as well. All responses have been positive and we strive to make changes when necessary.
