The Mums Collective is a community-led organisation dedicated to supporting mothers and families, particularly those facing isolation, mental health challenges, or financial hardship. Through workshops, events, and practical support initiatives it provides safe spaces, essential resources, and opportunities for connection. The organisation focuses on empowering mums and strengthening communities across Southwark and Lambeth. During the financial year 2024 - 2025, The Mums Collective CIC have benefited the community in the following ways: - Created safe and inclusive spaces for mothers and families to connect, reducing isolation and loneliness. - Strengthened support networks, enabling mums to build friendships, share experiences, and access peer support. - Improved mental well-being through creative workshops and relaxed, welcoming environments that encouraged self-expression and emotional release. - Provided early years engagement through stay-and-play sessions, supporting children’s social, emotional, and developmental growth. - Increased access to essential items via the “Mums in Need” project, helping families experiencing financial hardship with baby clothes, toiletries, and food essentials. - Reduced financial pressure on low-income families by supplying donated goods, allowing household income to be used for other critical needs. - Built community cohesion by bringing together families from diverse backgrounds across Southwark and Lambeth. - Improved access to local support by creating a trusted space where mums could seek guidance and signposting to additional services. - Empowered mothers by giving them a voice, a sense of belonging, and opportunities to engage in community-led activities.
The Mums Collective CIC’s stakeholders include mothers and families who attend our activities, children who benefit from stay-and-play and family sessions, volunteers who support delivery, local community organisations and referral partners across Southwark and Lambeth, and donors and informal supporters who contribute essential items and resources to the “Mums in Need” programme. Stakeholder consultation has taken place continuously throughout the 2024–2025 financial year. This has primarily been delivered through informal but structured feedback methods, including in-person conversations during workshops and events, direct feedback from service users accessing support, and discussions with volunteers and community partners. We also gathered insights through ongoing observation of engagement levels and needs during sessions, particularly around mental health support, access to essentials, and preferred types of activities. In response to this feedback, the organisation adapted and developed its services to better meet community needs. This included increasing the availability of essential items through the “Mums in Need” project, ensuring sessions remained child-friendly and accessible for mothers experiencing isolation, and continuing to prioritise safe, welcoming environments for peer support. We also refined workshop content to focus more on wellbeing, creativity, and practical family support, ensuring activities directly reflect the needs and lived experiences of the families we serve.
