During this financial period, we have continued to provide individually tailored specialist exercise sessions to more than 50 people each week, through our core programme of pay-as-you-go exercise classes. This may seem a small number but is a significant increase on last year and reflects the complex nature of the people we work with, which requires small groups and high level of expertise. We will continue to work to increase our reach by providing additional sessions as demand increases, which has been driven by patients attending our NHS commissioned classes wanting to continue to be supported with their physical activity, having experienced significant improvements in their mobility and confidence. Our free to access activities and commissioned work are not included in this figure. We would like to thank our grant donors whose funds have enabled us to avoid increasing the cost of our core sessions to users, and to continue to be able to provide our free to access services, such as our social hubs and wellbeing walks. We also acknowledge fundraising efforts and donations from individuals and community organisations. We were delighted to be re-commissioned by One Northern Devon and the ICB to deliver the Steady on Your Feet falls management programme in Barnstaple, Ilfracombe and Westward Ho!, a free to access 24 week programme, delivered by specialist postural stability instructors and evidence based to reduce falls risk and improve confidence. Within these groups, we can accommodate up to 42 people to engage with the programme at any one time. Vista Education continues to operate to provide training for the local fitness industry workforce and was also actively involved in training our volunteer interns, either informally or via regulated qualifications. We have continued to grow our volunteer team and were delighted to offer a placement to a student from Petroc (North Devon College), as part of their supported intern programme which proved very successful. We continued to work closely with North Devon Voluntary Services and were active members of their Leadership Hub and Managing and Supporting Volunteers Group. Both these groups allowed us to both recruit and support our volunteers more effectively, provided us with access to training opportunities and through the Leadership Hub there were many opportunities to share good practice and to learn from other voluntary sector organisations. One of our directors provided presentations to a range of community groups regarding the health benefits of physical activity. These are provided free of charge on request and are an example of our commitment to ensure that everyone has access to information and guidance regarding becoming more active when living with health challenges, therefore increasing confidence and self-efficacy. Our team were present at community health promotion events, including the World Heart Day celebration in Ilfracombe and the Cancer Wellbeing Day in Barnstaple. We ran an event at Barnstaple Library to celebrate Older Adults Day and provided functional MOT’s and blood pressure checks. We continue to provide phase 4 Cardiac Rehabilitation through strong links with our local NHS Cardiac Support Services and work closely with FORCE cancer charity to support people at all stages of their cancer journey. Our founding director is pleased to work alongside Active Devon, One Northern Devon and the ICB at strategic level, to increase availability and uptake of physical activity opportunities amongst those who need it most, attending the Healthy Aging North Devon Board, Tackling Health Inequalities Through Physical Activity strategic meetings and the ICB working group for physical activity in older adults. She has also presented, alongside a colleague from Plymouth at the ICB Frailty Day, held in December 24. In this financial period, we have expanded our social offering beyond our regular hubs, to include our first craft makers fair, and a festive party, attended by over 70 people, including a hot dinner. Both were very well received and free to access thanks to support from funders and volunteers. We are very grateful for continued support of our work, from funders, health professionals and local communities and look forward to continuing to increase our impact and help more people to live well for longer.
We prioritise building strong relationships with our clients, partners, employees, and the wider community by listening to their needs, incorporating feedback, and fostering mutual trust. We have actively engaged with stakeholders through regular communication and collaboration. We have been actively involved in several community forums such as the North Devon Older Adult Network, Northern Devon Mental Health Network, One Barnstaple, Healthy Ageing North Devon and others. We have been regular attendees at the Barnstaple Community Cafe, providing an opportunity for the wider community to express their opinions on our services, and engage in our activities where appropriate. Our wellbeing hubs allow for clients and other stakeholders to express their views and suggest ideas in an informal way on an ongoing basis. All voices are important and play an integral part in the shaping of our work. As a direct result of consulting client stakeholders, we have increased our service provision by adding classes to our timetable in outlying community hubs
The total amount paid or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £28,900. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
