The company’s activities provide and benefit to the community of Beckenham (BR3) and surrounding areas that wish to come together to sing. This is a natural voice (non-auditioned) choir accessible to all persons over the age of 16, irrespective of musical experience. The choir has allowed the opportunity for members to perform in public, local venues and events, to share music with wider members of the community. During the financial year of 2024/25 the activities of this company benefited the community in the following ways: - Throughout the year we had great outreach within the community via our social media pages with numerous membership enquiries and taster sessions offered and attended. - We ended Year 4 with 64 active members, 30 inquiries, 19 new starters and 15 leavers - Over 24/25, the main committee roles remained the same - Produced 2 musical events in Beckenham (Christmas and Spring concerts). - Performed locally at Crystal Palace Bowl, Dorset Road Allotments, Beckenham Place Park Race for Life. - Performed at Trafalgar Square at Christmas. - We joined Choir Blast - a choir festival that took place in Godalming. The choir enjoyed the trip and we’ve applied again next year. - Raised money and awareness of 5 charities through local community performances: Romney House Cats rescue, Heart n Soul, Anthony Nolan Charity, Bromley Brighter Beginnings, Cancer Research UK, Choir Blast - totalling £3714 in donations. - Provided employment for a Musical Director and local pianist. - Provided employment opportunities for several local musicians/bands and project manager - Membership fees have remained stable despite cost-of-living increases. - In renting the space, we provide income to Christchurch Beckenham.
The company’s stakeholders are the members of the choir and the employed musicians. We have conducted a feedback survey emailed to all members and stakeholders on the mailing list. We also held an Annual General Meeting at which feedback was elicited. We received good response to the feedback Survey from choir members as to the direction of the choir / music choice. Some feedback here: - Choir provides an opportunity for a mental download through singing, while getting to know people in the area and feel absolutely part of a community. Love you all! - Sense of community, the banter and the mental health benefit of community singing - The friendly social nature of it. And the fact that it's very non judgmental and everyone just
