The word Sanskruti in Sanskrit means “Culture”. Our mission is to inspire, educate and engage people, especially families and children in performing south Asian art forms led by dance to propagate south Asian culture and heritage. We raise awareness of South Asian art forms using workshops and performances in varied venues and for different occasions; schools, museums, hospitals, libraries, cultural festivals and private events. We create professional choreography using south Asian dance and music vocabulary and our works are participatory thereby well engaging for our audiences. We want to create work that has an impact on our audience to change lives by creating and nurturing excellence in classical, contemporary, popular and participatory South Asian dance. Our vision is that South Asian dance is thriving at the centre of British cultural life. The company created successfully toured their dance productions for children and families in the East region engaging more than 2000 audience members. Engagement was also seen with interactive workshops with the audiences who came to watch the shows learning about Indian festivals, Indian dance style movement and story- telling aspects. Within Cambridge, over 200 residents had the opportunity to access different dance styles ranging from Bollywood dance to Hip-Hop as part of the Cambridge Dance Festival curated by the company. The festival also created a platform for local artists to present their new works in development thereby elevating the company’s profile in curating festivals and events. At least 250 audience members including children and families participated either as performers or audiences for the company’s annual event called Rangeela to celebrate south-Asian culture and heritage in Cambridge. Rangeela allowed audiences to experience Indian culture through its dance, music, food and art. The company commenced research and development for its new dance production called Tree of Life, which completed production and premiered at Cambridge Junction in November 2025. The show is set for touring in 2026
The company has a voluntary Board of Directors/Trustees as follows: Chris Fogg, Chair Tomorr Kokona, Member Meera Vinay, Member Amit Nair, Director Krishna Zivraj-Nair, Director The company’s stakeholders are artists and experts in arts management based in Cambridge, London and Dorset. The directors of the company are local and familiar with the Cambridge arts landscape. The board members meet three times a year via Zoom video conferencing to give company updates and also seek each other’s advice on the next steps of action. Detailed meeting minutes are recorded and shared with the board members by email after the meeting. The board members also meet once a year in person either in Cambridge or in London, mostly towards the end of the year
The total amount paid to the directors in respect of qualifying services was £8,960.
