During the financial year, Inspiring Happiness CIC delivered The Lantern Project, a Community Lottery fund-ed initiative designed to support adult survivors of childhood and adult abuse to rebuild confidence, emo-tional wellbeing and social connection. The organisation exists to provide holistic, trauma informed recovery services, and delivery of The Lantern Project formed the company’s primary activity for the year. The Lantern Project was delivered primarily in Lowestoft, with additional online provision and wider Suffolk engagement where appropriate. The project provided a peer led programme of recovery and empowerment, recognising that many survivors experience isolation, low self esteem and barriers to full participation in community life following trauma. Project activity included 12 monthly Empowering Recovery workshops focused on self esteem, resilience and personal growth; 12 group coaching sessions and up to 45 hours of individual coaching and confiden-tial support to assist participants to improve emotional wellbeing and set personal goals; 26 fortnightly drop in sessions providing a safe and supportive space for peer connection; and 12 monthly social activities designed to reduce isolation and strengthen positive relationships. All activities were delivered using trau-ma informed and strength based approaches, with an emphasis on emotional safety, inclusion and lived experience leadership. Through these activities, The Lantern Project addressed a recognised local gap in survivor led recovery sup-port. Participants were supported to challenge negative self beliefs, develop coping strategies, reconnect socially and build confidence to engage more fully in everyday and community life. The project also strengthened local support pathways by working alongside community venues, health professionals and voluntary sector partners who identified unmet need and referred individuals into the service. Overall, Inspiring Happiness CIC’s work during the year contributed to reduced isolation, improved wellbeing and increased social inclusion for adult survivors of abuse, while promoting resilience, hope and positive connection within the wider community
The stakeholders of Inspiring Happiness CIC include adult survivors of childhood and adult abuse who participate in The Lantern Project, community organisations hosting or referring into the project, and health and voluntary sector professionals supporting survivors locally. Stakeholder consultation took place during the development and ongoing delivery of the Lantern Project. The project was designed and led by survivors with lived experience, whose shared experiences informed the focus on peer led, trauma informed support. Ongoing consultation occurred informally through participant feedback during workshops, drop ins and coaching sessions, enabling the project to respond to emerging needs. External stakeholders, including community venues, counselling services and mental health professionals, confirmed unmet local need and provided feedback on service gaps through discussions and referrals. As a result of this feedback, Inspiring Happiness CIC ensured the project offered flexible support, combining group activities, one to one coaching, regular drop ins and social opportunities to reduce isolation and im-prove accessibility for survivors.
Directors received payments for services provided to the company during the financial year in accordance with the terms and conditions of a grant funded project for the delivery of approved project activities.
