Food For Children Devon have supported over 100 families, over 230 children and provided over 30,000 mealkits during the last twelve months. These families are low income families who during the school term receive free school meals, during the holidays, these children suffer as the meal voucher system was insufficient and has now been removed completely. We continue to receive more and more referrals from primary schools in Devon. Currently we have over 20 schools covering the South Hams area of Devon. Without the generous support of our donors and volunteers this essential service would not be able to assist those children in desperate need. Whilst we cannot provide 'fresh' meals, we do provide fresh fruit and vegetables along with ambient nutritious foods. We provide Recipes and directions on how to cook the recipes we provide and give alternative cooking instructions for Potatoes etc. We also provide bespoke meals for those with intolerances and also halal meals where we can. Devon has many areas of depravation, the North Devon Town of Barnstable being one of the highest in the Country with Plymouth and other areas not far behind.
