Company activities and impact

During the financial year 30July2024-31July2025, The Unstoppable Project CIC focused on early-stage development and small-scale activities to support refugee and asylum-seeking women to access the outdoors and build confidence through nature. We delivered 4 sessions with five asylum-seeking women living in temporary hotel accommodation. These sessions included hiking, therapeutic outdoor experiences, and indoor climbing, which was a first experience for all participants. The activities provided a safe and supportive space for the women to connect, try new things, and improve their wellbeing and confidence. We also organised a small group trip led by a volunteer cyclist. This involved myself and another Afghan woman who had recently arrived in the UK for her master’s degree. Although she had cycled in her home country, she had not been on a bike for a long time. Over two days, we cycled more than 100 miles, followed by a hike up Scafel Pike, the highest peak in England, on the third day. This experience helped rebuild confidence and showed the value of peer support and guided activities. For myself, it was also meaningful to take part alongside experienced people, which made the experience feel safe and encouraging. Another main focus of the organisation was to develop strategically, a digital presence and governance to be able to be in a solid position to be able to further our impact in the future years. Alongside these activities, the company continued to build connections, raise awareness, and develop plans for future programmes. Overall, this work has helped promote inclusion in outdoor activities and laid the foundation for supporting more women to feel confident, connected, and able to access the outdoors. Prior incorporation 30July2024, initial grant funding and community donations were received to support the development of the project. At that stage, funds were held on behalf of the project, including within an account operated by individual supporting the initiative. Following incorporation these funds were transferred into the company and used solely to support its community- focused purpose. As the company is in the foundational phase expenditure has been minimal and focused only on essential expenditure required. No funds had been used for private benefit and all have been applied in line with the community interested objective. Our projects have been conducted on a voluntary basis with no expenses. The company is positioning itself to expand its impact.

Consultation with stakeholders

In the early stages of the company stakeholder engagements have informal, with early conversations happening with female refugees and asylum seekers. These conversations have informed strategic approach of the organisation to reach its aims ensuring that all activities are a response to the community needs. As the organisation is in the early stage no formal consultation conducted however , the company intends to gather more formal stakeholder engagement in the future.
