During the year ending 31 July 2025, Wapping Hockey Club CIC operated as a not-for-profit sports organisation delivering accessible field hockey to the East London community. The club provided year-round training, competitive matches and development opportunities for players of all abilities, from beginner to national league level. Activities included men’s, women’s, mixed and masters hockey, alongside a large junior section (“Wapping Kidds”). The club operated across two main facilities: the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in Stratford and the John Orwell Sports Centre in Wapping. The club maintained a broad playing structure, including 9 men’s and 9 women’s teams, as well as mixed, masters and development teams competing in the National League and London League. The company delivered community benefit throughout the year by: - Providing affordable and inclusive access to hockey in inner London - Supporting over 100 children weekly through its junior section, “Wapping Kidds”, promoting youth development and physical activity - Running free “Back 2 Hockey” sessions to enable adults new to the sport, or returning after a break, to participate without financial barriers - Promoting health and wellbeing through regular sport, training and social engagement - Creating opportunities for volunteering, coaching and umpiring development within the local community The club actively promotes equality, diversity and inclusion, ensuring participation is open regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, ability or background, and maintaining a welcoming and supportive environment for all members.
Wapping Hockey Club CIC continued to operate as a volunteer-led sports organisation, with members actively contributing to coaching, administration, officiating and governance. The club’s committee structure supports engagement with members and the wider community, including coordination with local authorities, sports bodies and partner organisations. Players, parents and volunteers contributed to the delivery and development of activities, including junior programmes, training sessions and community initiatives. Regular training, matches and social events supported ongoing engagement and strengthened community cohesion
