Company activities and impact

Got enough. The financial year is 1 Sept 2024 to 31 Aug 2025, covering the debut event in 2025. Here's a draft for the CIC34: The company's activities and impact BSides Bournemouth CIC was incorporated to deliver an annual community-led cyber security conference for the South Coast, providing a platform for learning, networking, and first-time speaking opportunities that would otherwise be unavailable locally. In our first financial year, the company organised and delivered our debut conference, BSides Bournemouth 2025. The event welcomed 248 attendees from across the cyber security community, ranging from students and people taking their first steps into the industry, through to engineers, consultants, and senior leaders. Programming was delivered across two tracks with over 20 speakers and three workshops, with deliberate space given to first-time speakers and students alongside experienced practitioners. Tickets were priced to keep the event accessible, and a portion of capacity was reserved for students and early-career attendees. The community benefit delivered in the year included: -Creating a free or low-cost venue for knowledge-sharing in a region that previously had no dedicated cyber security conference, reducing the cost and travel barrier for local people who would otherwise need to attend events in London, Bristol, or further afield. -Providing a supportive first-speaking platform for newcomers, including students and junior practitioners, with mentoring and review offered through the call for papers process. -Strengthening the local technical community by drawing on and feeding back into the long-running Bournemouth 2600 monthly meetups, from which the conference grew. -Bringing sponsors, employers, and recruiters into direct contact with the local talent pool, supporting employability and routes into the industry for people in the area. -Sharing event content publicly after the conference (photos and a highlights video) so that the benefit extended beyond ticket-holders to the wider community. All surplus generated by the event has been retained within the company and ringfenced for the next year's conference, in line with the asset lock and the company's purpose of running BSides Bournemouth as a sustained community resource rather than a one-off event.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company's stakeholders are attendees, speakers, volunteers, sponsors, and the wider South Coast cyber security community, including the long-running Bournemouth 2600 meetup from which the conference grew. The directors are active members of this community and developed the event based on years of attending and supporting BSides conferences across the UK. We ran an open Call for Papers ahead of the 2025 event, inviting submissions from anyone in the community and offering review feedback to first-time speakers. Sponsors were engaged through one-to-one conversations to shape sponsorship around what they and the community would value, rather than fixed packages. After the event, we ran a feedback survey of attendees covering the venue, programming, format, and overall experience, and the Bournemouth 2600 monthly meetups provide an ongoing forum for the local community to feed into the direction of the conference. The survey results, alongside conversations with speakers, sponsors, and volunteers, have directly shaped our plans for 2026. Feedback reinforced the importance of keeping tickets affordable and protecting access for students and early-career attendees, both of which remain core commitments. Speaker feedback is being used to refine the Call for Papers and speaker support process, and sponsor feedback has informed how we structure stands and engagement opportunities for the next event.
