Principal activities of the company
Additional information
Principal activities The principal activity of the company during the year was the provision of horticultural and outdoor therapy for children and adults. Achievements Over the past year, the group has had a very successful and rewarding time, building on the strong foundations set in previous years. We have continued to grow in strength and held a wide range of engaging activities and events. More than just a safe space, Plant Pots and Wellies is a centre of connection and learning. Through shared dedication, we've not only enriched our surroundings but also strengthened the bonds within our community. The horticultural groups have continuously been working to maintain and produce fruit, vegetables and brilliant displays of flowers. This year we have had harvests galore and again proudly won prizes at the local produce show. School visits have continued to be successful and they have continued to take part in a wide range of activities, who consistently bring energy, creativity and enthusiasm to everything they do. It has been especially rewarding to see them building on previous experiences and developing their confidence as they take part in new and varied activities together. We held a Murder Mystery Event where the actors acted out different scenes and then went from table to table for the guests to question the suspect. We also supplied an afternoon tea for the guests. We managed to put on this entire event without a charge for our guests. Following last years success, we held another Santa's Hollow event for children with additional needs and their families. This year our acting group took on roles such as an Ice Queen who wanted to ban Christmas and have Queenmas instead and the other mystical characters collaborated with the children to stop her ruining Christmas. With a relaxed atmosphere, families could spend as longas they liked with us, taking part in craft activities with Mary Christmas and seeing Santa for as longas they wanted. A very joyful event. Working in Partnership with Harlow Museum we ran the Enchanted Garden event where our actors interacted with the visitors and ask them to help them with specific tasks such as hook a fish with the gnome or take part in a dice game with a goblin. We also made over 30 fairy houses for the children to find, which was closely guarded by a pirate who had lost the ability to see magic anymore and was asking for the childrens help (the houses were then displayed in an exhibition in the Gibberd Gallery later on in the year)We are very grateful to our dedicated volunteers and all those who continue to support us so consistently. Their time, effort and commitment are essential to everything we do at Plant Pots and Wellies and we truly could not achieve what we do without them. As we look ahead, we continue to build on our progress from previous years, growing stronger as a group and developing in both impact and confidence. It is exciting to see how far we have come and how much further we can go together. Heres to another year of positive growth and enjoyment. Key aims of our project continue to include: Support Wellbeing and Social Inclusion We provide a valuable service of placements for people with all kinds of additional needs, including those who have physical, learning, developmental and mental health challenges. We will: give safe opportunities for people, of all abilities, to be able to grow vegetables from seed to plate. create opportunities to be in the fresh air and an open space, whilst meeting other like-minded people to share knowledge, helping to improve general wellbeing. Create a Thriving Community We aim to bring the local community together by involving them in the project through volunteering opportunities on site. We will provide opportunities to: connect with others, helping to reduce feelings of isolation or exclusion, whilst general mental health can be improved through a sense of purpose and achievement. learn new skills whilst socialising and meeting people. achieve better physical health through exercise and learning how to use or strengthen muscles to help improve mobility. supply healthy produce for local residents, including the elderly and vulnerable. give excess harvest to Streets2Homes Homeless project. Provide a Clean Green Environment Allotment gardening provides a wide range of benefits to individuals, communities and the environment. We will be: chemical free and encourage natural biodiversity, providing suitable habitat for wildlife to thrive, creating havens to benefit wildlife such as birds, hedgehogs butterflies and bees have a thriving allotment growing edible and ornamental produce. grow fresh, local and seasonal produce on site reducing carbon footprint and the environmental impact on the food chain.
