During the financial year 2024-2025, Turning Tides’ activities have benefited the community in the following ways: In September 2024 we had a stall at a local festival to speak with the local community including people of different ages and varying levels of awareness about how they feel about climate change and what swaps we can make in our personal lives and as a community. In November 2024 we hosted a free art workshop, where we provided supplies for people to make their own banners and placards for upcoming events in the city. In May 2025, as part of a creative literacy festival, we collaborated with the festival to host Portsmouth’s first “Climate Fresk”, which is a workshop to educate people on the science behind climate change and empower people to take positive actions. Throughout the financial year we promoted climate and social justice focussed events happening in Portsmouth via our website, mailing list and social media pages.
Turning Tides’ stakeholders are residents and visitors of Portsmouth and the surrounding areas. We regularly collect responses on short questionnaires about people’s concerns about climate change and what they would like to see from our company. We use the feedback we get to inform our decisions such as which events we should host next and how to make our events more inclusive. For example, we ran a survey at our stall where we asked people what types of events and services they would like to see if we opened our own physical space, to help inform our future decisions.
