Good Life Making CIC delivers pottery-based creative programmes that support wellbeing, confidence and social connection. During the financial year, the company was awarded National Lottery funding to deliver a two year pottery programme based at Callington Library, alongside outreach sessions in a range of care homes across Devon and Cornwall and in partnership with day care centres for adults with learning disabilities. In addition, the company delivered a six-session pottery programme for a youth group funded by the Asda Foundation, and a further six session programme in an isolated Cornish community funded by the Cornwall Community Fund. These activities have benefited the community in the following ways: Provided structured pottery sessions that support mental wellbeing, reduce isolation and build confidence; Enabled older adults and care home residents to engage in hands-on creative activity, supporting cognitive stimulation, dexterity and social interaction; Supported adults with learning disabilities to participate in inclusive, adapted sessions that build skills, confidence and self-expression; Engaged young people and individuals in isolated rural communities with limited access to creative opportunities; Increased access to arts provision through free, locally delivered pottery programmes; Created opportunities for participants to develop practical pottery skills and contribute ideas to future sessions; Strengthened connections between community venues, care settings and local organisations across Devon and Cornwall; Ensured inclusive participation by adapting sessions to meet a range of sensory, physical and communication needs.
Our stakeholders include participants in our pottery programmes, older adults, young people, carers, disabled people, and individuals experiencing isolation, low confidence or poor mental health, as well as partner organisations such as NHS teams, day centres, libraries, care homes, community groups and arts venues. Good Life Making CIC consults stakeholders through ongoing, direct engagement. As all sessions are delivered by the organisation, we gather immediate feedback during activities and informal feedback after each programme. Participants are asked what they enjoyed, what they found challenging, and what they would like to explore next. We act on this feedback by adapting session content, pacing and delivery methods to improve accessibility and engagement. This includes introducing new creative techniques, adjusting activities to meet sensory, mobility and communication needs, and providing additional sup-port where required. We also consult partner organisations, whose staff share insight into the needs, abilities and interests of their groups. This informs tailored session design and helps remove barriers to participation.
