Company activities and impact

Company Activities and Impact (01 Sept 2024 – 31 Aug 2025)Photo North Festival CIC operates an annual photography and visual storytelling festival that promotes social engagement, education, and emerging creative talent. During the financial year 2024-2025, the company's activities benefited the community in the following ways: Festival Delivery and Public Engagement: The company successfully curated and delivered the Photo North Festival, engaging local residents and photography enthusiasts with exhibitions and talks that encouraged creative discussion and community cohesion. Support for the Creative Economy: The festival provided essential freelance opportunities for creative professionals, including photographers, curators, and event technicians, supporting employment within the cultural sector during the 2025 cycle. Educational Outreach: We maintained our commitment to professional development by partnering with universities and colleges to provide students and emerging artists with mentoring and industry connections. Platforming Underrepresented Voices: The 2025 programme continued to feature diverse exhibitions highlighting social themes, giving a platform to underrepresented voices and prompting critical public engagement with documentary photography. Reinvestment of Funds: All income received through sponsorships and ticket sales was reinvested into the delivery of cultural events, ensuring public access to high-quality visual storytelling and workshops.

Consultation with stakeholders

During the financial year, Photo North Festival CIC maintained a regular and active consultation process with its key stakeholders, including festival attendees, exhibiting artists, educational partners, and local community groups. Attendee Feedback: We gathered qualitative feedback through in-person consultations during the 2025 festival events, as well as through post-event digital surveys and social media engagement. Partner Engagement: We held planning and review meetings with our primary venue partners, to ensure our events met local cultural needs and accessibility standards. Educational Collaboration: Frequent dialogue was maintained with representatives from universities and colleges to tailor our mentoring and portfolio review sessions to the specific requirements of their students. Artist Consultation: We consulted with freelance creative professionals and curators to ensure our platform continues to provide meaningful career support and fair working conditions within the sector. Given the small, community-focused scale of our organisation, this iterative and responsive approach to consultation remains the most effective way to ensure our programming stays relevant to the needs of our beneficiaries.
