The company’s activities provided benefit to the local community by operating the Cathall Road Construction Training Centre on behalf of the London Borough of Waltham Forest council. The purpose of the centre is to service the needs of local residents and employers for skills training, apprenticeships and employment support in the borough, neighbouring communities and the wider Greater London region. The majority of the beneficiaries of our work at the centre are local residents. Our aim continues to be upskilling of residents and measure the impact of this work e.g. access to employment opportunities, careers information, advice and guidance, and supporting businesses to fill vacancies with skilled in demand workers. We provide free careers information, advice and guidance workshops to promote employment and work experience in construction and green energy sectors, to young people in the community. Providing pathways through education and skills qualifications to well-paid and secure employment, for in demand trades to help combat skills shortages. Raising awareness of future career pathways for employment opportunities not currently widely promoted in the education system. Hosted numerous school visits providing ‘try a trade’ workshops, work experience and alternative provision for 14 to 19-year-old young people (and care leavers up to 25 years). We have held a number of Employment events and Job Fairs, in partnership with the local authority, employment brokers (JCP/DWP) and other intervention groups (e.g. charitable/community-based organisations, supporting residents to find and keep jobs to improve wellbeing). The main purpose of these events was to introduce residents to potential developers, employers and training providers, through interactive workshops.
The company’s stakeholders are our learners, employees, local residents, employers and London Borough of Waltham Forest who have developed the centre for the benefit of all who receive training. All learners attending the centre fill out surveys at the end of their training, capturing their experience at the centre, how we can improve to meet the needs of all learners and increase access to our services to all employers, residents, and other stakeholders in both the local borough and the wider GLA region. Feedback is analysed and reviewed monthly, feedback is reported to the board at the monthly Leadership and Management meetings to be actioned. We hold regular Partnership/Contract Meetings with London Borough of Waltham Forest, to ensure we are on track in meeting our objectives. Employer Events/Job Fairs, engagement with partners (JCP, DWP, Local residents), Learners, In centre training, surveys, learner voice and employer forums.
