Safe Square Sanctuary has benefited the community during the financial year by organising workshops and awareness programmes focused on domestic violence and its impact on families and communities. Through these sessions, the organisation engaged directly with 40 boys aged 17 to 25 and 30 men aged 30 to 63 years old to educate them about the emotional, psychological, and social effects of domestic violence on partners, children, and wider family relationships. The workshops encouraged open discussions about healthy relationships, respect, accountability, and positive masculinity, helping participants better understand the importance of creating safe and supportive home environments. By providing guidance, mentorship, and a safe space for conversation, Safe Square Sanctuary has helped challenge harmful behaviours and attitudes, promoted conflict resolution and emotional well-being, and encouraged men and young boys to become positive role models within their families and communities. These activities have contributed to raising awareness, strengthening family relationships, reducing stigma around discussing domestic violence, and supporting the development of a safer, more united community.
Yes. Safe Square Sanctuary consulted with a range of stakeholders during the financial year to ensure that its activities and workshops addressed the needs of the community. Stakeholders included community members, parents, local leaders, support organisations, and individuals affected by domestic violence. Through discussions, feedback sessions, and community engagement activities, stakeholders shared concerns about the impact of domestic violence on families, young people, and the wider community. Their input helped shape the organisation’s awareness workshops, mentorship programmes, and support activities, ensuring they were relevant, culturally sensitive, and effective in promoting healthy relationships, emotional well-being, and positive behaviour among boys and men. The consultation process also strengthened partnerships, encouraged community participation, and helped build trust between the organisation and the people it serves.
