Principal activities of the company

The principal activity of Worthwhile Works CIC is the development and facilitation of community-focused creative practice, learning and supporting connection and collaboration between individuals, groups, and organisations working across the cultural and social sectors. During the year, the company has worked with local residents, creative practitioners, and partner organisations across Hampshire to support the development of informal and emerging networks, including Creative Assembly Winchester, Southern Creative Catalyst, and discussions linked to the Kings Walk Creative Enterprise Zone. This has included facilitating conversations, supporting collaboration between individuals and groups, and contributing to ongoing development work within local creative and community ecosystems. The company’s work has also focused on relationship-building, informal consultation, and responsive development of activity based on ongoing feedback from participants and partners.

Company activities and impact

The company’s stakeholders during the financial year included local artists and creative practitioners, studio organisations, educational institutions, cultural organisations, regeneration partners, and individuals working within the wider creative industries across Winchester and Hampshire. Stakeholder engagement has taken place primarily through informal meetings, discussions, collaborative working groups, and ongoing dialogue with members of the local creative community. This has included consultation with representatives from artist studios, teaching staff from Winchester School of Art, creatives involved in Creative Assembly Winchester, members of Southern Creative Catalyst, and individuals connected to regeneration discussions relating to Kings Walk. Feedback from these consultations identified a need for stronger connections between creative practitioners and organisations, improved collaboration across the sector, and greater advocacy for the role of the creative industries within local economic and cultural development. In response, the company supported the establishment and ongoing development of Creative Assembly Winchester as a collaborative network for the local creative community. The company also provided voluntary advisory support to Southern Creative Catalyst in order to help strengthen regional collaboration and support future funding applications and strategic development opportunities. In relation to Kings Walk regeneration discussions, stakeholder feedback highlighted the importance of embedding creative and cultural activity within future development plans. The company has continued to participate in discussions and provide informal input in support of this objective.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s stakeholders during the year included local artists, studio groups, creative practitioners, educational organisations, and people involved in cultural and regeneration projects across Winchester and Hampshire. Consultation took place through informal meetings, conversations, and collaborative discussions with groups including Creative Assembly Winchester, Winchester School of Art staff, Southern Creative Catalyst members, and those involved in the Kings Walk regeneration discussions. Feedback highlighted the need for stronger connections between creatives, more collaboration across the sector, and greater recognition of the value of the creative industries locally. In response, the company helped support the development of Creative Assembly Winchester as a network for local creatives, provided voluntary advisory support to Southern Creative Catalyst, and continued involvement in discussions around the potential development of Kings Walk as a creative enterprise area.
