The Breakfast Bothy CIC operates a high street charity shop (The Bothy Boutique) that feeds 100% of profits to The Breakfast Bothy SCIO (registered charity number SC051923) a charity set up in 2021 to help those experiencing homelessness in Edinburgh with food, drinks, essential equipment and services. The Breakfast Bothy CIC charity shop - 'The Bothy Boutique' opened in August 2024 on Marchmont Road in Edinburgh. The location was chosen specifically as it is only a few hundred yards from where the main charity operates. The main charity gives out food, drinks and services from an old police box and serves an average of 40 people each day. The shop provides extra storage for the police box as well as contributing funds. Other benefits of the charity shop have been: Increased visibilty of the main charity which has led to more donations with a high street presence as well as social media. A big uplift in volunteers for the charity who have been very useful in admin as well as operational duties. More space for office use as well as storage for food, tents, sleeping bags and other essential items. If applicable, please just state A social audit report covering these points is attached
The company’s stakeholders include residents of the local area and visitors to The Bothy Boutique. We had consultation with local residents, businesses and community groups of the styling of the shop as well as the purpose and also how the profits would be used. We are active in the local community, engaging with the local high school, church groups and neighbourhood committees. The main charity (The Breakfast Bothy CIC) has regular drop in sessions for those experiencing homelessness to decide which services are needed so that we are always relevant.
