Lichfield Community Media CIC is the Community Interest Company behind the Lichfield Live website and the Lichfield & Burntwood Independent newspaper. The team of volunteers is committed to delivering trusted, independent news and information created in the district, for the district. And the figures show why our output continues to be a truly trusted and reliable source of local news and information: - Our website was viewed 5.4 million times in 2025 - The 9,000 copies of our newspaper are packed with content every fortnight, ensuring across print and digital we’re able to keep across what matters most - As a Community Interest Company run by volunteers, rather than a privately-owned business, none of our revenue goes to shareholders – instead it’s reinvested into helping grow and create a sustainable platform for local journalism and ensure residents are well-informed now and in the future - Content covers the stories and information readers need to know – the good, the bad and everything in between - Our work providing trusted local news saw us named as We Love Lichfield Community Champions in 2025 Reliable and trusted independent media has never been so important and there’s a wealth of research showing local journalism plays a key role in communities, bringing social, economic and democratic benefits. The company provides the community in the area with timely news and information via: - The website at lichfieldlive.co.uk - Associated social media channels - The fortnightly print newspaper, the Lichfield & Burntwood Independent - Various emails highlighting recently published news stories - A weekly emailed newsletter providing editorial comment Our strategy in 2026/27 is to grow the number of copies of the newspaper produced and distributed and increase the pagination where there is relevant content to report. We are also seeking to build cash reserves to allow us to offer employment opportunities in the district to allow us to move away from a purely volunteer based model.
Stakeholders in the company’s activities are considered to be: - Readers of the newspaper and visitors to our website and associated social media channels - Advertisers - Donors and members - Our newspaper distribution locations - Suppliers - Local public and third sector organisations, including councils - Our volunteers and subcontractors, including story and sports contributors Users of the company’s services provide feedback via the comments section of lichfieldlive.co.uk, comments on social media posts and letters to the editor of the Lichfield & Burntwood Independent. Regular dialogue is held with other stakeholders as appropriate. All comments received are considered and acted upon. There is an established complaints procedure, and any formal complaints are considered and responded to by the directors.
