Notes to the Financial Statements

for the Period Ended 31 August 2025

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of discounts and value added taxes. Turnover includes revenue earned from the sale of goods and from the rendering of services. Turnover from the sale of goods is recognised when the significant risks and rewards of ownership of the goods have transferred to the buyer. Turnover from the rendering of services is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract. The stage of completion of a contract is measured by comparing the costs incurred for work performed to date to the total estimated contract costs.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulative depreciation and any accumulative impairment losses. Depreciation is provided on all tangible fixed assets, other than freehold land, at rates calculated to write off the cost, less estimated residual value, of each asset evenly over its expected useful life, as follows:

    Other accounting policies

Debtors Short term debtors are measured at transaction price (which is usually the invoice price), less any impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts. Loans and other financial assets are initially recognised at transaction price including any transaction costs and subsequently measured at amortised cost determined using the effective interest method, less any impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts. Creditors Short term creditors are measured at transaction price (which is usually the invoice price). Loans and other financial liabilities are initially recognised at transaction price net of any transaction costs and subsequently measured at amortised cost determined using the effective interest method. Taxation A current tax liability is recognised for the tax payable on the taxable profit of the current and past periods. A current tax asset is recognised in respect of a tax loss that can be carried back to recover tax paid in a previous period. Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences between the recognition of income and expenses in the financial statements and their inclusion in tax assessments. Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits. Deferred tax is measured using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the reporting date and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference. Current and deferred tax assets and liabilities are not discounted.

COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

NORTH EAST REGION OF PARENT CARER FORUMS CIC

Company Number: 14285508 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 August 2025

Company activities and impact

The principle activity of the CIC is to represent the Parent Carer Forums in North East and Cum-bria by working with partner organisations across education, health and social care to improve services for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Through drawing on regional forums experiences and listening to wider parent carer voice we will work to ensure that services planned and delivered across the regional network are meeting the need of the community. We will work to be a representative voice in commissioning and delivery. Through surveys, meetings, events and information days we will allow parent carers the oppor-tunity and space to share their experiences and provide them with information to empower them to navigate their system. Hosting sessions and events with a focus on SEND systems and how to navigate them, keeping parent carers up to day with changes to processes and legislation. We have created a strong regional network for Parent Carer Forums. These are well attended and representative of the whole region. They are held bi-monthly and provide the opportunity to share good practice and provide training to forums. This in turn allows forums to cascade infor-mation to families/communities in their own local area. Representation has been provided on strategic and decision making boards throughout Education, Health and Social Care. This representation ensures that the voice of parent carers is heard and listened to as we work in co-production.

Consultation with stakeholders

The stakeholders are our 14 Parent Carer Forums which reside in the North East of England. We have run polls, surveys and regular meeting to gather feedback. The direction of the CIC is in-formed by these results.
