REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES
for the Year Ended 31 DECEMBER 2025

The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 December 2025. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
Fermanagh Genealogy Centre aims:

1. To promote genealogical and heritage services principally in within County Fermanagh and beyond the region.
2. To welcome and accept members from across the community irrespective of religious, ethnic, cultural or sexual orientation.
3. To offer its members a range of experiences in educational and social areas.
4. To preserve, disseminate and to raise awareness in areas relevant to the cultural and genealogical heritage of County Fermanagh.
5. To hold monthly public meetings during the academic year that are open to members and the general public.
6. To offer a live online recording of public meetings to members and to have these archived for posterity.
7. To welcome visitors to its advisory service -'face to face' meetings hosted at Enniskillen Castle Museum.
8. To offer an online genealogical advice service.
9. To preserve local historical data through its transcription service.
10. To create a Fermanagh centric genealogical data base for its service provider, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.
11. To raise awareness of family history through outreach events.

All of the above activities are completed on a voluntary basis and no salary is paid to any member of Fermanagh Genealogy Centre.

To conclude, Fermanagh Genealogy Centre is a welcoming group whose members are adults from across the world who share a passion for family history and County Fermanagh.

Significant activities and Public benefit
Fermanagh Genealogy Centre membership again reached over 100 in 2025. Our renewals begin each September so there is always a larger membership number in June compared to the autumn. We had the launch of Fermanagh Roots 3 Journal at our January 2025 meeting which was well attended and supported.

Our committee met each month during the academic year and kept the wheels of motion flowing! The secretary sent minutes of committee meetings to committee members. The committee in 2025 included Caroline Fitzpatrick, Conor Maguire, Frankie Roofe, Fred Cleary, Karen Ireson, Mary-Anne Grant, Mervyn Hall, Shelley Lunney, Frank McHugh and Viola Wiggins. Frank and Caroline both stood down from the committee at the June 2025 AGM. We welcomed Rosaleen Fee unto the committee in February 2025 and Linda Swindle soon after. Rosaleen took up the role of bookkeeper from Caroline. Monthly Bulletins continued to be sent to members and these notified the membership of developments.

We had a good range of talks through 2025 and these again were held live on Zoom and recorded for members at our website: www.fermanaghgenealogy.org. Mary-Anne and Jade did sterling work in this area. (The talks programme for 2025 is given at the end.)

We have a healthy following on our Face Book page where Karen and Linda place updates. By the end of 2025 we had around 4,500 followers and over 7,000 likes.

Shelley Lunney in Canada again hosted our online enquiries service and by the end of the year had responded to 185 enquiries. Shelley deserves great credit as each enquiry takes up much of her time. She also informs the group about visitors who are coming to Fermanagh to seek Face to Face sessions.

Frankie, assisted by Caroline, did most Face to Face meetings with our overseas visitors in 2025.

REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES
for the Year Ended 31 DECEMBER 2025

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Our number of volunteers in 2025 was twenty, a small increase on 2024. The committee had agreed to make arrangements with Enniskillen Castle Museum to get the Enniskillen Work House records made available again for our transcription teams in 2025.

Frankie, Mervyn and Rosaleen represented FGC at meetings held with Enniskillen Castle Museum and Fermanagh and Omagh District Council. We met with them on four occasions during the year. One important development from these meetings was the go-ahead to prepare the Art Room for our FGC Sage library in 2026. All our stock of donated material was moved to the Art Room for this purpose.

We held a joint exhibition with Inniskillings Museum and Fermanagh County Museum on the First World War, Back Streets, Dardanelles' war dead. We were informed that this was one of their most popular exhibitions with good feedback and re-visits. This ran from May to late Autumn.

One of our members, Dave McNulty planned and executed a superb series of events to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the Bartons, from Waterfoot who sailed to France to become one of the world's great wine producers. FGC played a small role in this highly rated series of events. The Baron-Guestier owner, Madame Lilian, came over from Bordeaux to give a talk to wine lovers in Enniskillen.

Vivienne Carson again organised a superb June summer trip that included visits to Rathfarnham Castle and Newbridge House and farm. FGC subsided this trip and it was a well-attended and enjoyable experience. Well done to Vivienne for her meticulous planning which made the day run so smoothly.

FGC produced an updated advice leaflet for members and visitors. This is free to view on our website.

FGC supported Mervyn's book launch in December with over 60 in attendance. His book is entitled Crimea War 1854-1856. The role played by Fermanagh and Clogher Valley. It contains biographies on over 300 men from the locality.

I would like to thank our members for their steadfast support and finally, a huge thank you to our financial donors. Praise too must go to Frankie and Shelley whose Face to Face and enquiries services have resulted in generous donations from grateful visitors.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF
FERMANAGH GENEALOGY CENTRE

I report on the accounts of the company for the year ended 31 December 2025, which are set out on pages five to eleven.

Respective responsibilities of charity trustees and examiner
As the charity's trustees (and also the directors for the purposes of company law) you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006.

Having satisfied myself that the charity is not subject to audit under company law and is eligible for independent examination, it is my responsibility to:
- examine the accounts under Section 65 of the Charities Act
- follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under Section 65(9)(b) of the Charities Act
- state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

Basis of the independent examiner's report
I have examined your charity accounts as required under Section 65 of the Charities Act and my examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under Section 65(9)(b) of the Charities Act. The examination included a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also included consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as charity trustees concerning any such matters.

My role is to state whether any material matters have come to my attention giving me cause to believe:

1. That accounting records were not kept in accordance with Section 386 of the Companies Act 2006
2. That the accounts do not accord with those accounting records
3. That the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of Section 396 of the Companies Act 2006 and with the methods and principles of the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland
4. That there is further information needed for a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination and have no concerns in respect of the matters (1) to (4) listed above and, in connection with following the Directions of the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland, I have found no matters that require drawing to your attention.
