Cumberland Lodge invests its surplus cash in ethical investment funds, seeking to produce the best financial return within an acceptable level of risk. The investment objective for the long term is to generate a return in excess of inflation whilst generating an income to support the ongoing activities of Cumberland Lodge. The investment objective for the short term is to preserve the capital value with a moderate level of risk. Assets should be readily available to meet unanticipated cash requirements. Investment performance is reported to the Board and is monitored by the Trustee group as a whole. While the performance of our invested funds has been below expectations during the period, the Trustees are working closely with our investment advisors to review the portfolio and evaluate potential actions to strengthen performance.
