During the financial year, FIMBA GB Masters CIC continued to promote and develop opportunities for older adults to participate in competitive and recreational basketball across Great Britain and on the international stage. The company organised and supported the selection, preparation, and participation of GB Masters basketball teams in international tournaments and events, providing structured pathways for men and women players aged 35 to 70 to remain actively engaged in sport along with the recent introduction of a wheelchair category for wheelchair basketball players. Key activities included the delivery of training camps, coordination of national team programmes, and participation in international FIMBA competitions. These activities enabled players from diverse backgrounds and regions to represent Great Britain, fostering a sense of community, pride, and continued athletic development. FIMBA GB Masters CIC also worked to expand awareness and accessibility of Masters basketball through social media engagement, partnerships, and outreach to clubs and regional networks. This has helped increase participation and visibility of the sport among older age groups, encouraging lifelong physical activity. The company’s activities have delivered clear community benefits by: Promoting physical and mental wellbeing through continued sports participation. Supporting social inclusion and community cohesion among older adults. Providing opportunities for international representation regardless of age. Encouraging diversity and accessibility within basketball. Through its work, FIMBA GB Masters CIC has contributed to extending sporting careers, reducing social isolation, and building a connected community of Masters athletes across the UK.
FIMBA GB Masters CIC engages with a range of stakeholders who are directly impacted by its activities. These include players (aged 35+), coaches, team managers, volunteers, partner organisations, and the wider Masters basketball community across Great Britain. Stakeholder consultation has taken place throughout the financial year using a variety of formal and informal methods. These have included regular committee meetings, direct communication with players and staff via email and messaging groups, feedback from training camps and tournaments, and ongoing discussions with coaches and team managers. Feedback gathered has focused on areas such as the structure and organisation of training camps, communication processes, tournament preparation, and overall player experience. As a result of stakeholder consultation, the company has taken several actions, including: Improving communication channels between players, coaches, and management. Refining the structure and delivery of training camps. Reviewing team management and coaching support structures. Enhancing planning and organisation for international competitions. Increasing transparency around selection processes and expectations. The company remains committed to ongoing engagement with stakeholders to ensure that its activities continue to meet the needs of the Masters basketball community and deliver clear community benefit.
