The company has ran a cost-of-living cafe on Mondays to allow those experiencing financial hardship to pay what they want for a dine-in experience in the venue. We have also distributed surplus produce and prepared meals to local community centres in the Tees Valley to be given to service users in those areas. We have also began a body of work based on six years of research and development work in the local economy to establish gaps in supply chain provision, volunteer recruitment and incentives, social value in procurement, local consumer spending, apprenticeship uptake and enterprise development working with the local economic growth team and voluntary development agency. The company has expanded its reach further into Teesside by agreeing leases on kitchens in both Billingham and Stockton. Billingham is now fully operational, helping increase revenue, create more jobs, expand our surplus food provision and reduce wastage.
The activities within the Hartlepool venue are steered by a group of local stakeholders including representatives from the Northern College of Art, voluntary development agency, adult education department, stage society and mayoral development corporation. There is a suggestion that more live-music events, inclusivity events and dry-bar events take place in the venue which we are implementing with immediate effect. There has also been feedback from the community centres around what kind of food is acceptable given the demographics of service users so we stopped using meat in our meal prep where we could to cater for people with dietary requirements (halal, kosher etc).
No remuneration was received
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
