Over the past year, we have taken a close look at community needs and the wider range of services available. This has helped us spot gaps in local support, both in the immediate area and in nearby communities, and will help guide our future planning and programme development. We attended a community leadership event to share experiences and views on what good community leadership looks like, and to explore how we can link with health and care partners to encourage working together. As the company is currently dormant, only limited engagement has taken place during this period. However, we have maintained some contact with local community organisations and individuals to stay informed about local priorities and developments within the wider community. During this period, the company maintained contact with an individual living with Multiple Sclerosis who was referred for support following the establishment of the CIC. Ad hoc coaching and informal guidance were provided in response to identified needs, which helped address some of those needs through connection and engagement. The feedback received was especially encouraging. The individual expressed that she felt an uplift in mood after our conversations, and that she was able to be vulnerable with someone living with the same condition.
During discussions held with an individual stakeholder, valuable insight was gained into some of the challenges affecting their daily life. Issues highlighted included social isolation, particularly during weekends, barriers to social engagement linked to reduced mobility, and lifestyle habits that may be impacting opportunities for personal progression and improved wellbeing. Conversations also explored the importance of meaningful personal development opportunities and ongoing social and/or wellbeing/ therapeutic support. Some actions from the consultation is working progress.
