The company delivers community table top gaming events and activities, aimed at promoting social inclusion. Working in partnership with other community organisations, during the financial year 2024 2025, benefit to the community was provided in the following ways Operation of a community cafe, running organised gaming sessions with volunteer games masters available to support people to find others to play games with; and access to a free community games library throughout all cafe opening hours – overall supporting 300 attendees a week. A one-to-one social outreach service for new members wishing to get to know a volunteer from the community prior to joining wider games sessions is always available. Delivery of a community stall at several locations within The Mercury Mall, Romford to promote tabletop gaming and engage with the wider community through demonstration sessions and events. Participation in community events, to engage with local people and families and promote the work of Dicing With Life CIC whilst supporting other local groups and charities. Delivery of multiple workshops to build understanding of social inclusion, social value and gamification with local creative groups, anchor institutions, businesses and the local authority. Games master training, capacity and confidence building leading to several members of the games community being able to access employment or training opportunities in the local area. Continuing maintaining our community venue as our central operational base, with a co-sharing arrangement, supporting other local businesses and offering an improved service and facilities to participants. Consistent access to our services 4 days a week, all year long.
The company’s stakeholders are visitors to the community games cafe and participants in community events, and the wider local community including other local community organisations and businesses. Stakeholders are regularly consulted via the following methods: The Dicing With Life volunteers group, which is made up of active participants within the group who give feedback and suggestions in relation to proposed activities and events. The Dicing With Life WhatsApp group, which has over 260 subscribers who regularly take part in events and activities and offer suggestions and feedback. Facebook, Instagram, "X" and Discord – open access to anyone who wishes to join – opportunities for consultation are posted regularly. Questionnaires distributed during gaming sessions. Newsletter and surveys via Meetup, which has over 2000 members across two different groups in relation to Dicing With Life CIC. Growth and fundraising strategy – specific consultation was carried out once again with stakeholders via a typeform survey to establish the way that Dicing With Life CIC moves forward. Our research has enabled us to identify particular issues affecting social inclusion, accessibility requirements, tailoring of the social outreach service we provide, demand for particular types of tabletop gaming and the requirements of our venues, establishing which criteria are effective in bringing people together and building strong social connections.
Director remuneration received for the year was £1,300.
