Company activities and impact

We have been able to go on specific training which allowed us to use the skills learnt use as of when. With the drop-in run in the community, we could use what was learnt. The drop in was a safe space for members of the community who wanted to ask questions about addiction and the effect on them. Whether is was the person who had the substance use disorder or a member of the family/ friend, we were able to advise and point them in the right direction for resources or further help. The was valuable with the stigma in the community, that they had a safe space to speak freely. Material was sent out local agencies and printed to put in local community centres and medical centres. This raised awareness of a culturally sensitive facility to support them. The setting up a contact number for members of the community to call as of when there was a need was a great facility. This means they were not restricted in having to come to the drop but call the number from their own confinements.

Consultation with stakeholders

PART 2 – CONSULTATION WITH STAKEHOLDERS – A “stakeholder” is any person or organisation affected by the company’s activities. Please indicate who the company’s stakeholders are; how the stakeholders have been consulted and what action has the company taken in response to feedback from its consultations. If there has been no consultation you must state ‘There has been no stakeholder consultation held’. The stakeholders in this case would be those affected by substance use disorder directly or indirectly. The drop-in was set up as people needed a culturally sensitive service which met their needs. Through previous consultation work done with local communities (A change is gonna come, see www.7events.org/imjit for further details and report), the drop in was set up as a need for the community. We spoke to many organisations who had also worked in the area and understood what was needed (Bac-in Notts, SAFIR). We spoke with researchers and professors too about what was needed, as well as other community groups and use of our lived experience.
