Transpose Arts CIC has not yet begun trading: there is no income/outgoings, no accounts to display, and no tax to pay. During this period, we have been preparing and pitching for future activities to further our community aims, including: - Ongoing work with Barbican Centre to guarantee a 2027 Transpose event with wraparound community activities - Ongoing work with other LGBT arts organisations through the LGBTQIA+ Cultural Barometer project (led by Curious Arts) to research, understand, and respond to community needs in a difficult political and cultural climate - Mentoring from Sound Voice and CRIPtic Arts to prepare our fundraising plans for late 2026 onwards - Preparing grant applications for Arts Council England to fund projects in late 2026 (TBC) - Working with Queer Arts Festival Vancouver to prepare funding application for the Canadian Arts Council to bring trans artists from the UK to Canada in 2027 to further their careers and build international co-operation - we will find out whether this funding is successful in the latter part of 2026. - Ongoing research and networking to establish partnerships outside of London, to enable Transpose Arts to serve artists and audiences on a broader national scale
Transpose Arts CIC has been consulting with stakeholders - trans artists and audiences - through our engagement with the LGBTQIA+ Cultural Barometer project led by Curious Arts. This has been a collaboration between LGBTQIA+ arts organisations, artists, and audience members throughout the UK, supported by Arts Council England. Transpose Arts CIC has been involved in sharing our experiences, and learning of other experiences around the country through in person shared learning sessions and through the gathering and analysis of anonymous data through online surveys. We have learnt that our stakeholders are feeling increasingly under pressure, increasingly at risk, and have a strong desire for artistic spaces where they can feel understood, supported, and know that they are safe (through strong commitments to front of house training, proper security protocols, and well considered and implemented access provision). As a result of this consultation, we will be aiming to expand our reach so that we can support more audience members and artists, while aiming to expand our fundraising efforts to make sure that our access, security, and audience engagement measures are of the highest quality.
