Company activities and impact

Voice of Nations (VON) was set up on 2 August 2010 to deliver consultations, workshops, trainings, seminars and conferences strategically designed to educate, empower, mentor, inspire and boost the confidence of underprivileged young girls, women, young people and their families. During the financial year ending 31-08-2025, VON continued to deliver impactful community-led programmes that benefited children, young people, adults, women, refugees and individuals facing barriers including social isolation, unemployment, low confidence, poor mental wellbeing and digital exclusion. Our work focused on improving wellbeing, resilience, confidence, employability, digital inclusion and access to life opportunities. VON ran empowerment, employability, digital skills, creative learning, leadership, health and wellbeing activities. These projects supported participants to improve their confidence and communication, strengthen emotional resilience, build practical skills for work and training, reduce isolation, and engage more fully in community life. The company’s activities included She Moves keep-fit sessions, mental resilience and wellbeing sessions, creative writing workshops, employability, and personal development and leadership programmes and conferences. During this financial year VON has run the following events and projects: She Moves - Keep Fit Sessions: Regular physical activity sessions designed to improve physical health and wellbeing, build confidence and self-esteem, and encourage social interaction among women and young people. Mental Resilience and Wellbeing Sessions: Structured group sessions supporting participants with emotional resilience, coping strategies, stress management, self-esteem and safe spaces for open discussion. Creative Writing Workshops: Interactive workshops enabling participants to develop literacy and communication skills, express emotions and personal experiences, and build confidence through storytelling. Employability and Coaching Support: A practical support programme providing CV development, job application support, mock interviews, career guidance, mentoring and confidence-building for employment pathways. Digital Skills and IT Suite Training: Training to improve basic and intermediate IT skills, use of Word documents, spreadsheets and online tools, digital confidence and readiness for employment or further learning. Community Engagement and Social Inclusion Activities: Activities designed to reduce isolation, build peer networks, promote inclusion and belonging, and encourage ongoing participation in community life. Youth and Community Support: Programmes engaged children, young people, adults, women, refugees and individuals facing unemployment, isolation, mental health challenges and other barriers to opportunity. Impact and outcomes: Participants reported improved emotional resilience, reduced isolation, increased confidence, stronger communication, improved self-expression, enhanced literacy and digital skills, and increased readiness for employment, volunteering and training. Employment and progression outcomes: Beneficiaries received tailored employability support and progressed towards jobs, training and volunteering opportunities. One case study highlighted an 18-year-old refugee participant who, after support with wellbeing, literacy, digital skills, confidence and employability, secured her first job. Stakeholder learning and needs identified: The year highlighted increasing demand for mental health support, employability support, digital inclusion, tailored support for refugees and vulnerable groups, and activities that reduce isolation and build confidence. Projects planned or yet to commence: VON identified next steps including an advanced digital skills certification programme, youth leadership and ambassador programme, women and girls empowerment expansion, and enhanced mental health support programme. Challenges: Key challenges included limited funding restricting programme expansion, barriers to access such as transport and time commitments, increasing demand for mental health support, and the need for more tailored support for refugees and vulnerable people. Conclusion: Voice of Nations CIC continues to deliver high-impact community-focused programmes that transform lives, support integration, empower individuals and create opportunities for sustainable personal and professional growth. Case Study: Maria's Journey Maria, an 18-year-old refugee, joined VON facing low confidence, social anxiety, poor mental health, language barriers, limited digital and literacy skills and no prior work experience. Through mental resilience sessions, creative writing, guided reading, social engagement, IT suite training and employability coaching, she developed confidence, communication, digital skills and work readiness. She completed her CV, practised mock interviews and secured her first job. Maria said: "When I first came, I was scared to speak and didn't believe in myself. Now I can talk to people, use a computer, and I have a job. I feel proud of myself." Next Steps VON will seek to expand programme reach and capacity, strengthen partnerships, secure additional funding and scale high-impact interventions that support wellbeing, confidence, skills development, inclusion and employment outcomes.
