COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

GUARD-UP BOXING CIC

Company Number: 15056893 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 August 2025

Company activities and impact

Guard-Up Boxing CIC continued to provide affordable and accessible boxing fitness and wellbeing sessions throughout 2024 and 2025, with a strong focus on supporting the local community and improving mental and physical wellbeing. During this period, the organisation kept session prices unchanged despite rising operational costs, ensuring activities remained affordable and inclusive for existing and new members. Additional sessions were introduced, enabling more people from the community to participate regularly in structured physical activity and social engagement. Guard-Up Boxing CIC increased its involvement in community events, including street markets, summer fairs, and a neurodivergent festival, helping to promote community inclusion, positive mental health, and accessible fitness opportunities for people of all backgrounds and abilities. The organisation also provided reduced-cost sessions for individuals and families experiencing financial hardship, ensuring participants could continue attending sessions and maintaining the positive impact on their physical and mental wellbeing during difficult circumstances. To improve accessibility and encourage wider participation, free taster sessions were introduced, allowing members of the community to try boxing fitness in a supportive environment before committing financially. In addition, the CIC began offering one-to-one private sessions for individuals seeking tailored coaching, additional confidence building, or a more gradual introduction before joining larger group sessions. This particularly benefited individuals with anxiety, low confidence, or those who preferred personalised support. During 2025, Guard-Up Boxing CIC relocated its training venue closer to the town centre. This move not only reduced operating costs for the organisation but also improved accessibility for participants by providing a more central and easier-to-reach location, helping remove transport and travel barriers for members of the community.

Consultation with stakeholders

Throughout 2024 and 2025, regular consultations and meetings took place between the stakeholders and individuals with significant control of Guard-Up Boxing CIC to discuss the ongoing development, future direction, sustainability, and growth of the CIC. These meetings allowed stakeholders to review the effectiveness of current activities, discuss community feedback, identify areas for improvement, and plan future opportunities to expand the organisation’s positive impact within the local community. Feedback from members, families, and the wider community was regularly considered during decision-making processes, and appropriate actions were implemented where possible to improve accessibility, participation, inclusivity, and the overall quality of services provided. All decisions and actions taken by the CIC were made in the best interests of both the organisation and the community it serves, with the continued aim of promoting wellbeing, confidence, inclusion, and affordable access to physical activity and support services.
