With EPA’s flagship expedition Ride to Independence due to take place in February 2026, the main focus for EPA has been around preparing the team for this and using this training to spread the word about EPA’s aims and objectives. EPA has maintained a social media presence, and had articles in print and online, to inspire others and raise awareness on relevant topics including inclusion, diversity and equality. The Ride to Independence team have had 2 team training weekends to prepare for the expedition, with a focus on the team learning how to best support Steph (the disabled member of the team) both physically and medically. During one of these team weekends Steph spoke during a community event to share how horses have made such a positive impact on her life. In March 2025 Steph presented at the Naidex show in Birmingham, talking about the benefits of the outdoors for those living with disability and medical conditions. This was in collaboration with The Happiness Horsebox (CIC). In March 2025 Steph held a panel discussion on the main stage at the National Outdoor Expo with the focus being on accessibility in the outdoors and the benefits of adventure to all. Steph has been a guest on a number of podcasts during 2025, with a highlight of Tegan Vincent-Cookes podcast recording. Tegan is an international para-equestrian with a large following and all aspects of para-equestrian activities were discussed. EPA has continued to support multiple beneficiaries on a 1:1 emotional support basis. This is via text, phone call and video call. This remains an important aspect of what EPA is currently offering to other beneficiaries in the lead up and preparation to offering places on physical activities in the future.
