As of September 2024 Sale Youth Choirs CIC was running weekly singing classes for school aged children between 5 to 16 years old in our three regular choirs: SYC Infant Singers, SYC Junior Singers and SYC Youth Choir. September 2024 marked the creation of our next age category (11 to 16 years old) the SYC Youth Choir after consultation with members and parents who wanted a space for their children to progress as they got older. In our new choir we started the year with twelve members which grew to nineteen members by the end of the year (July 2025). Over the course of the year we delivered music rehearsals for 13 children in the SYC Infant Singers and 19 children in the SYC Junior Singers. This meant, on average we were working regularly with around 50 children on a weekly basis by the end of the year. Our timetable follows the school term dates of Trafford, Manchester. These weekly classes aim to provide musical education and training in choral singing to any child in the local area, there are no auditions or prior experience necessary with opportunities throughout the year to perform at various local events. On the 11th December 2024 our choirs performed in their Christmas concert at St. Anne’s Church. On the 28th March 2025 we gave our own Spring concert to parents of our weekly choirs. The choirs also performed in their Summer Singing Celebration Concert on July 9th 2026, also held at St. Anne’s Church. In each of these concerts we performed to approximately 100 members of the local community. We continued to deliver on our established local school partnership with Lime Tree Primary Academy, a 2 form entry school. Through this partnership our musical Director, Matthew Roughley, takes his expertise in using the voice to teach music at curriculum level to elevate the school’s musical offerings. This partnership means that Sale Youth Choirs CIC is directly impacting a further 420 pupils (approx) in the local area. Finally, in August 2025 we held our annual Summer Singing Week, a non residential music course held in partnership with Trafford Music Service where we had 33 children join us for a week of singing and music theory learning. This course culminated in a showcase style concert for the families of the children involved. Sale Youth Choirs CIC has impacted the local community in the following ways: - Musical Opportunities for local school aged children led by one of the UK’s most experienced choral educators - Provided training for aspiring choral leaders and accompanists - Provided training for primary school teachers in delivering curriculum music lessons - Supported local events and schools to help gain much needed funding - We rehearse in the local methodist church building which supports their running costs - We perform in the local church (St. Anne’s) which supports their running costs
The company's stakeholders are the children and parents of the local area seeking an outstanding musical and choral education. The directors of the company have lived in the area for a number of years and formed the organisation in response to a lack of available musical options for this age group in the local area. When making decisions about new sessions and timetables we consult with the parents of our members to ensure that what we are offering suits their needs and regular schedules. Once we have ascertained whether our proposed new sessions suit the majority of our stakeholders we then implement those sessions. The creation of our Youth Choir age group this year was the output of such a consultant process.
