    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable for goods supplied and services rendered, net of discounts and Value Added Tax. Revenue from the sale of goods is recognised when the significant risks and rewards of ownership have transferred to the buyer (usually on despatch of the goods); the amount of revenue can be measured reliably; it is probable that the associated economic benefits will flow to the entity; and the costs incurred or to be incurred in respect of the transactions can be measured reliably

Company activities and impact

The French speaking community in Yorkshire an Humber benefits from a school that enables its children to maintain or improve their spoken and written French, to build upon their knowledge of their French culture and encourage linguistic and personal confidence in their bilingual and multicultural identity. La Petite Ecole is a friendly network that encourages families to maintain a relationship with the French language, France and other French speaking countries, that offers practical assistance and support to established and new families in the UK. In the 2024-2025 school year, La Petite Ecole (Leeds) CIC provided 30 Saturday mornings sessions of 2.5hrs to 130 children aged 18 mths to 17. Children were grouped into 12 classes and I session of an hour available to our 18 mths-3years old pupils. The team was composed of 12 teachers, 16 volunteers teaching assistants, I curriculum adviser and 1 director. 1 Director resigned on November 2020 due to relocating to France. This post has not been replaced due to financial challenges related to Covid 19. Since January 2024, we have a freelance education coordinator as well as a new treasurer. In addition to the sessions, La Petite Ecole organises regular meetings with parents of the school pupils (at least 1 per year, and cultural events at each end of term. In July 2025, a day visit to Museam in Newcastle was organised for families and a school trip was organised to Paris with 15-17 year old children. For teachers and assistants, La Petite Ecole offers 2 training days for curriculum planning and update on safeguarding, support for Special Education Needs, and continuous development training (mostly online) via Parapluie FLAM. We also collect feedbacks and suggestions from teachers & assistants, and families to improve the quality of the service via anonymous surveys sent.
