  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of discounts and value added taxes. Turnover from the rendering of services is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract. The stage of completion of a contract is measured by comparing the costs incurred for work performed to date to the total estimated contract costs.

Company activities and impact

Below is a summary of the main work we undertook this year – for more detailed information about the impact of each programme, please see our impact reports at: www.thepoliticsproject.org.uk/impact Digital Surgeries: We continued to deliver our Digital Surgeries programme in which we supported teachers, politicians and young people to engage in conversations with local, national and regional politicians that represent them. Digital Dialogue: USA: We ran online dialogue sessions with US politicians in collaboration with the British Library and US Embassy. Digital Surgeries: Wales: We continued our work with the Welsh Government to expand our Digital Surgeries programme in Wales, supporting young people to learn about and engage members of the Senedd. At the Table: We created a toolkit for youth practitioners for the Greater London Assembly Training: We trained teachers and youth workers in the run up the 2025 elections. Democracy Classroom: We continued to support the Democracy Classroom Network in which we supported a organisations to work collectively to engage young people in democracy and elections. Across our projects we continued to see significant increases in young people’s political knowledge and understanding, increases in political trust and improvements in skills such as oracy.

Consultation with stakeholders

We continue to evaluate all of our programmes working closely with our networks of young people, politicians and teachers. We do this through before/after questionnaires, delivery diaries, analysis of workshop outputs and surgery feedback videos. We also informally consulted with all of these partners as the programme progressed.

The director was paid a salary which is diclosed in the accounts There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed
