Principal activities of the company

The Hangout Youth Group CIC's principle activities is to provide an inclusive youth service to children in Leeds ages 11-18. To generate revenue to support these activities we hold fundraiser events and access funding for our projects through grants and donations.

Company activities and impact

The company runs The Hangout youth club, an inclusive group for children ages 11-18, based in East Leeds, The group meet every Tuesday evening in term time, and participate in educational and recreative activities. The group also runs activities during school holidays. The group has been running since April 2022, and was brought under the company in September 2023. During the financial year 2024-2025, The Hangout's activities have benefitted the community in the following ways: - 25+ young people, some of whom are under-socialised due to being home-schooled, have participated in educational and recreational activities on the Tuesday evening sessions, made new friends, and fostered a sense of belonging, community values and confidence. - The group have visited other cities in the UK on our Pride celebration outings, including London, Sheffield, Hebden Bridge, and Scarborough. - The young people had the opportunity to meet industry professionals such as actors from their favourite shows, and visiting artists from the the community who have run creative workshops with the group. - The group have participated in Alternative Pride and Leeds's first ever Youth Pride events - which connected them to their wider community. - The youth group provided 3 staff members with full and part time wages as youth workers over the financial year. - The group have set up 1-to-1 mentoring with youth workers for more than half the young people, giving them an opportunity to receive focussed support with emotional needs, school work, and planning for their futures. - Two young people who could not access the group due to travel restrictions / parental income have been provided transport by a youth worker and therefore could access the group and the enrichment activities.
