During the financial year 1 September 2024 to 31 August 2025, Inspiring Women Network, IWN, continued to deliver a wide range of community-led activities, events, outreach, and empowerment pro-grammes across Cornwall, with a particular focus on supporting women and girls experiencing isolation, inequality, financial hardship, racism, migration-related barriers, poor mental wellbeing, and limited access to opportunities in rural communities. IWN provided safe, welcoming, and inclusive spaces for women from diverse backgrounds to connect, build confidence, access support, develop skills, and participate in community life. Activities were delivered both in-person and online and were designed in response to community need and ongoing consultation with participants. Throughout the year, IWN delivered regular wellbeing and community activities including weekly crafts, yoga, dance fitness, swimming sessions, walking groups, cultural gatherings, book clubs, net-working events, and social spaces aimed at reducing loneliness and improving mental wellbeing. These sessions particularly benefited women experiencing social isolation, low confidence, poor mental health, or barriers to accessing mainstream services. The organisation also expanded its outreach and advocacy support for women facing complex challenges including housing insecurity, domestic abuse, financial hardship, immigration issues, mental health difficulties, and navigating statutory services. Through one-to-one support, signposting, advocacy, and community based interventions, women were supported to access services, improve wellbeing, and feel more empowered and informed. A significant focus of the year was creating culturally affirming spaces for racially minoritised wom-en and migrant communities. IWN delivered cultural celebrations and gatherings including Holi, Di-wali, Eid, Black History Month activities, women of colour support spaces, and intercultural community events aimed at fostering belonging, representation, and community cohesion within Cornwall’s rural context. IWN also continued developing its “Ignite” programme, supporting women with confidence building, employability, enterprise development, networking, leadership, and professional skills. Workshops included career development, pitching, public speaking, confidence building, and women’s enterprise support, helping women move closer towards employment, education, entrepreneurship, and leadership opportunities. The organisation delivered community conversations and educational events on important social issues affecting women and marginalised communities, including women’s health inequalities, refugee experiences, migration, anti-racism, and gender equality. These events created opportunities for reflection, dialogue, learning, and greater understanding within the wider community. IWN continued strengthening partnerships with local organisations, charities, educational institutions, healthcare providers, artists, community venues, and grassroots groups to increase access to opportunities and reduce barriers for underserved communities across Cornwall. The impact of IWN’s work during the year included: - Reduced isolation and improved wellbeing for women and families. - Increased confidence, leadership, and community participation among women. - Greater access to culturally safe and supportive spaces for racially minoritised women and migrant communities. - Improved access to information, advocacy, and support services. - Increased opportunities for women to build skills, networks, and pathways into employment, volunteering, and community leadership. - Greater community understanding and dialogue around issues affecting women and marginalised communities. Through its activities, IWN continued to contribute positively to community wellbeing, social cohesion, equality, and empowerment across Cornwall, particularly within rural and underserved commu-nities.
Inspiring Women Network regularly consults with stakeholders to ensure that its activities remain community led, responsive, and relevant to the needs of the communities it serves. The company’s stakeholders include: - Women and girls accessing IWN activities and support. - Volunteers and peer supporters. - Women from racially minoritised and migrant communities. - Partner organisations and community groups. - Local authorities and statutory services. - Funders and grant-making bodies. - Community venues and delivery partners. - Artists, facilitators, and workshop leaders. - Wider members of the Cornwall community. Consultation took place throughout the year through a variety of formal and informal methods including: - Open discussions during sessions and community gatherings. - Feedback conversations with participants and volunteers. - Evaluation forms and surveys following activities and workshops. - Social media engagement and community polls. - Partnership meetings and collaborative planning sessions. - One-to-one conversations during outreach and advocacy support. - Community consultation activities and listening sessions. - Team reflections and volunteer feedback. Feedback gathered through consultation directly informed the development and adaptation of IWN’s services and activities during the year. For example: - Increased demand for culturally specific and culturally safe spaces led to the continued development of women of colour gatherings and cultural community events. - Feedback around isolation and lack of belonging influenced the expansion of social and well-being activities designed to strengthen community connection. - Women expressed interest in confidence-building, leadership, and employability support, contributing to the growth of the Ignite programme and related workshops. - Consultation with migrant and refugee communities informed the delivery of intercultural events, storytelling spaces, and awareness-raising activities. - Feedback regarding accessibility, affordability, and childcare barriers influenced decisions to keep many sessions low-cost or free and to deliver activities in accessible community venues. - IWN remains committed to ensuring that women and community members play an active role in shaping the organisation’s direction, activities, and priorities.
Total directors remuneration included within the accounts is £20,587.
