For the 2024-25 season, we operated 23 teams from Under-9 to Senior age groups, increasing our team participation from 258 to 326 basketball players within our community. Our CVL teams won 2 Surrey league division titles and the U12 Boys East won their playoff championship. In the National league, our U12 Girls and U16 Girls both won their respective divisions, with the u14 & U16 girls finishing runners-up in their National Finals and the U16 Girls also runner-up in the National Cup. 25 members of our community went on to represent Surrey, London and/or South-East England teams & 8 players were selected for the England and other National Team training squads. We provided over £10,500 of discounts or additional support through our Bursary and Scholarship funds to 44 of our most talented and/or under-privileged members and families, and delivered 12 schools tournaments to 650 children within our community as part of the support we offer the Richmond School Sports Partnership, culminating in the borough champions, East Sheen Primary, representing the borough in the London Youth Games Primary School basketball event. Knights worked in partnership with the Richmond borough council sports development team to provide the training and participation of the Richmond teams for Boys and Girls Basketball for the London Youth Games. Our entire programme was underpinned by the work of a team of 15 full-time, part-time and volunteer coaches, all supported by a team of volunteer parents acting as team managers.
Our stakeholders include the players who attend our sessions and represent our teams; coaches, parents, and volunteers who support our programme; educational partners such as schools and universities; and the Council Sports Development Team, which provides funding and support. We also work closely with Basketball England and Surrey Basketball, which provide the competitive frameworks within which we compete, as well as administrative and financial support. In addition, we engage with other basketball clubs as part of the wider basketball community. We maintain a network of WhatsApp groups that enables us to communicate effectively and receive feedback from parents, coaches, volunteers, and staff. We also consult regularly with our partner schools and meet with the Council Sports Development Team to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure that we continue to meet the needs of our community.
