Unity FC has provided another year of safe, enjoyable and healthy sporting opportunities for children and young people aged 5 to 16 within the local community. The club delivered weekly Saturday morning football sessions, providing two hours of structured physical activity each week that were open to all members of the community. In addition, the club operated league teams at Under 7, Under 8, Under 9, Under 10, Under 11, Under 12, Under 13, Under 15 and Under 16 age groups, competing in the Tandridge Youth League and offering regular training sessions during the week. The club's activities promote physical health, mental wellbeing, teamwork, confidence, discipline and social inclusion. The directors believe that participation in organised sport provides significant benefits to young people and their families and contributes positively to the local community. Unity FC is committed to ensuring that football remains accessible to all. While membership fees are charged to cover operating costs, the club works with families experiencing financial hardship and has never excluded a child from participation due to an inability to pay. The club also provides opportunities for local people to develop skills and employment within grassroots sport. During the year, coaches were supported to obtain qualifications in football coaching, safeguarding and first aid, improving the quality and safety of provision available to young participants. Any surplus generated by the club is reinvested into football activities, equipment, facilities, coach development and opportunities for children and young people to participate in sport, ensuring that the club continues to deliver community benefit in line with its objectives as a Community Interest Company.
The principal stakeholders of Unity FC are the children and young people who participate in the club's activities, their parents and guardians, and the coaches and volunteers who help run the club. The club maintains regular communication with families through attendance at training sessions and matches, team WhatsApp groups and direct contact with coaches, the Welfare Officer and the Club Secretary. Coaches and volunteers communicate regularly throughout the year through meetings and messaging groups to discuss player development, safeguarding, training arrangements and the day-to-day operation of the club. Feedback received from families, coaches and volunteers has been used to support the ongoing development of the club's activities, including training arrangements, league participation, safeguarding procedures and coach development. The directors remain committed to ensuring that the club continues to meet the needs of the local community and provide accessible opportunities for children and young people to participate in football.
