The provision of affordable (being the cheapest in the entire city) studio spaces for artists and makers in the heart of the city centre. We provide logistical and critical support in the form of inhouse group meetings and discussions about work and process as well as skills sharing and support in realising artists individual projects. We have supported artist’s with highly subsidised studio spaces for the entirew year as well as free space to make extra large works. We have supported local artists with affordable spaces and work opportunities. We have worked with artists finding them new commissions and opportunities and helping them build their practices, including ACE grants, employment positions and residency opportunities. We have sponsored art shows at galleries in the city of Leicester as well as in London, at the Florence Trust, for Artists Adam Khalifa, Lucy Stevenson & Matt Macken to make, show and sell work outside of the city, with partner organisations and also outside bodies. We sponsored a number of children’s workshops in Leicester and beyond. We have a long wating list of potential artists who nearly always come to us via referrals, and we are now working hand in glove with the city council in supporting our joint aims of providing affordable space and support to creatives, helping them build out what they do into sustainable models that begin to form opportunities of employment and industry around them, that then also benefit the wider community. We continue to offer studios below the m market rate and do not run the studios for a profit but for the benefit of the whole community
The stake holders are our artists members. We have responded at every turn to artists requirements. We keep artists informed of all our decisions and we welcome feedback and negotiation. This includes when heating goes on and how security is maintained as well as how finical support is used. The implementation of communal areas, including reception seating, dining areas and furniture corridors for break out and meeting areas, display areas for artists to show and exhibit their work for free, as well as intercom systems on each floor was again in direct response to artist members feedback.
The directors received a total of £11,209 in renumeration for running and managing the company and program across the entire year. This amount was split between 2 directors.
